BEFIX Dry Syrup is a third-generation oral cephalosporin antibiotic containing Cefixime, formulated for the effective treatment of a wide range of bacterial infections, especially in pediatric patients. BEFIX provides strong bactericidal action against susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms and is well tolerated, making it a preferred choice in routine pediatric practice.
BEFIX Dry Syrup is indicated for the treatment of:
Upper respiratory tract infections (URTI)
Lower respiratory tract infections (LRTI)
Acute otitis media
Tonsillitis and pharyngitis
Sinusitis
Urinary tract infections (UTIs)
Typhoid fever
Skin and soft tissue infections
Other infections caused by Cefixime-sensitive organisms
Cefixime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), resulting in disruption of cell wall formation and bacterial cell death.
It exhibits stability against many beta-lactamase-producing organisms, ensuring effective antibacterial activity.
This mechanism provides broad-spectrum, reliable bactericidal action with a low risk of resistance when used appropriately.
